NUTRITIONAL STATUS OF INPATIENT CHILDREN AGED 6 - 60 MONTHS AT THANH NHAN HOSPITAL, HANOI, IN 2025

Abstract
Objective: To describe the nutritional status of inpatient children aged 6 to 60 months at the Department of Pediatrics, Thanh Nhan Hospital.
Subjects and methods: A cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted on 329 children aged 6 to 60 months.
Results: The prevalence of children with normal nutritional status was 77.8%. Acute malnutrition accounted for 14%, while 8.2% of children were overweight or obese, reflecting the double burden of malnutrition. The most prominent form of undernutrition was stunting (9.4%). The prevalence of undernutrition was higher in boys (17.1%) than in girls (9.6%) and peaked in the 36-60 months age group (16.9%); however, these differences were not statistically significant (p>0.05).
Conclusion: The study showed that inpatient children at Thanh Nhan Hospital face a double burden of malnutrition, and this result emphasizes the need for timely screening and nutritional intervention.
