Abstract

Background: In some cases, Albumin is indicated in children with Dengue hemorrhagic fever. Currently, there are no articles to describe and evaluate the treatment response to Albumin. We conducted this study to evaluate the effectiveness of Albumin in the treatment of Dengue haemorrhagic fever in children with the support of USCOM (Ultrasonic cardiac output monitor).

Objective: Evaluate the response to treatment with Albumin in Dengue hemorrhagic fever patients at the Infectious Disease Department of City Children’s Hospital Ho Chi Minh City from September 2022 to May 2023.

Methods: a case series study.

Results: After 6 hours of Albumin therapy: systolic blood pressure increased (p = 0,003); mean blood pressure increased (p = 0,02); urine output increased (p = 0.02); Aspartate transaminase decreased (p = 0,002); Alanine Aminotransferase decreased (p = 0.009); the concentration of Albumin in blood increased (p < 0.001); stroke volume increased (p <0.001). The response rate to Albumin treatment was 59.1%.

Conclusion: Most pediatrics with Dengue hemorrhagic fever responded to the Albumin therapy after 6 hours.
