Trẻ tự kỷ thường được quan sát thấy có thói quen ăn uống đặc biệt do các đặc điểm vốn có của căn bệnh này, điều này có thể làm giảm sức khỏe dinh dưỡng của trẻ. Mục tiêu của nghiên cứu này là mô tả tình trạng dinh dưỡng của trẻ tự kỷ tại các trung tâm chăm sóc trẻ tự kỷ ở Việt Nam vào năm 2021 và phân tích một số yếu tố liên quan đến tình trạng dinh dưỡng của trẻ tự kỷ. Nghiên cứu cắt ngang này được thực hiện tại 18 trung tâm nuôi dạy trẻ tự kỷ ở Việt Nam từ tháng 5 năm 2021 đến tháng 12 năm 2021. Nghiên cứu được thực hiện trên trẻ em được chẩn đoán tử kỷ và những người chăm sóc chúng. Tỷ lệ suy dinh dưỡng thể nhẹ cân ở trẻ được chọn không cao (8,6% - nhóm tuổi dưới 5 tuổi) nhưng thừa cân béo phì ở ba nhóm tuổi là đáng được quan tâm (35,4% - nhóm tuổi 5-10 tuổi). Các yếu tố liên quan như giới tính của trẻ, tuổi của
người chăm sóc, hình thức sinh và được chăm sóc trẻ tại các trung tâm ảnh hưởng đến tình trạng dinh dưỡng của trẻ tự kỷ (p <0,05).
